12 International Designers Balancing Between Obsession and Invention

Through the work of 12 creatives and designers, the exhibition Obsessive-Inventive explores design as a relentless inquiry, where obsession becomes the driving force of innovation. It offers a collective reflection on creativity born from an irresistible attraction to an idea, a material, or a concept, leading to unique discoveries and experimentation.

Often seen as a limitation, an obsessive approach here becomes a generative force—a persistent energy that fuels design thinking. The exhibition unfolds through 12 manifesto-objects, tangible expressions of individual research, crafted in metal, a material chosen for its ability to give structure and form to abstract intuitions. Each designer narrates a personal journey—an obsession turned into invention, materializing in a unique work.

Curated by the design studio JoeVelluto, Obsessive-Inventive is a project developed in collaboration with Diemmebi, a company specializing in metalworking, and Uqido, a software house that has created an artificial intelligence system capable of transforming visitors’ obsessions into images and projects, fostering a dynamic interaction between the audience and design.

Accompanying the exhibition, a book features contributions from Alioscia Bisceglia, musician and frontman of Casino Royale, and psychiatrist Mauro Cibin, who explore creativity as an intimate vibration and the constructive potential of obsession.
