During the Design Week 2024, the ADI Design Museum presents:

EXHIBITIONS

_ORIGIN of SIMPLICITY. 20 Visions of Japanese Design, an unprecedented exploration of Japanese design and its relationship with natural forms, featuring 150 works ranging from craftsmanship to contemporary art, curated by Rossella Menegazzo, with graphic design and setup by Kenya Hara. The museum’s most important production exhibition of the year. March 23 – June 9 Paid admission

_Feeling Good. Caimi design for the future, a 75-year history of ideas showcasing synergies with designers and artists from the Caimi company. An exhibition on design reformism curated by Aldo Colonetti, Valentina Fisichella, with setup design by Matteo Vercelloni, and multimedia design by Ex Anima. April 6 – 28

_DBEW EXHIBITION 2024 “Design Beyond East and West” “Ottchil” 옻칠 Furniture and design A collaborative exhibition organized by the Oriental Culture & Design Center (OCDC) and the ADI Design Museum, celebrating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy. The exhibition presents projects that encapsulate both Eastern and Western aesthetics, with specially crafted objects merging modern production techniques with traditional methods, significantly expanding the use of Ottchil, a traditional lacquer material. April 16 – May 5

_The moment before – Edra Francesco Binfaré always brings an autobiographical dimension to his works, intertwining his visions with life experiences and emotions. His perception of the world translates into sketches and drawings that take shape in his innovative domestic installations, particularly in his sofas. The exhibition “The moment before” reflects not only on his creative process but also on the evolution of his imagery over the years. _Shanghai More&Less | ZONA SARPI, a new platform promoting a network of design-related projects and cultural events, unfolding along via Paolo Sarpi, at the Chinese Cultural Center and featuring a selection of projects at the Fabbrica del Vapore and the ADI Design Museum. April 15 – 21

_LISTEN – THINK – DO curated by Massimiliano Mandarini Showcasing brands committed to ecological and digital transition. With the support of digital technologies and AI, the exhibition aims to promote sustainability criteria and reduce the environmental impact of design and architecture. April 15 – 21

_AD AQUAM – TREEMME w/ POLI.design The result of a collaboration between Rubinetterie Treemme and POLI.design aimed at promoting initiatives with students through the transfer of corporate know-how. April 15 – 21

_Mobile home Helios CRIPPACONCEPT + MATTEO THUN & PARTNERS The square in front of the museum hosts a microarchitecture blending sustainability and functionality of spaces. A temporary and removable “home” solution, whose essence comes in three timeless styles: essential, classic, and modern. April 16 – 21

10:30 AM | Forum CHINA&DESIGN 2024 – Rebirth: Space Renewal and Innovation for the Future This forum revolves around the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, examining how design intentions and effective measures can be employed in the current context to achieve sustainable design oriented towards the future.

2:30 PM | Opening “Listen – Think – Do” + Healthy Conference New Avant-gardes of the Future for people’s well-being, from rethinking living and working spaces to new models of urban regeneration centered around the person through Esg and Human Centered Design approach, in harmony and reconnection with Nature between Real and Digital, Tradition and Innovation for Sustainable Communities towards the Ecological and Digital Transition.

6:00 PM | Opening DBEW EXHIBITION 2024 “Ottchil” 옻칠 Furniture and design Exhibition of furniture projects encapsulating both Eastern and Western aesthetics and the lasting synergy between Italy and Korea.

10:30 AM | Talk ADI Sicily and Accademia Harim A Sicily “by nature” dedicated to a new sense of designing.

2:00 PM | Forum CHINA&DESIGN 2024 – Design in China Wei Min from XIVO Design, and Daniel Zu, Director of Yoose, provide an in-depth analysis of the unique characteristics of Chinese design.

7:00 PM | Concert RockDesign Oslavia The Milanese rock band Oslavia returns to perform at the spaces of the ADI Design Museum, with an evening of design and rock in comparison.

SUNDAY, APRIL 21

5:30 PM | Talk Jordan Babev show and lighting designer of Tedua’s “Il Paradiso” stage recounts one of the most acclaimed shows of the music season. All introduced by Esse Magazine.

NB: Every weekend at the ADI Design Museum, Junior LAB opens, a laboratory hosting families and children aged 3 – 11 for thematic workshops.

INSTALLATIONS

Open-air botanical incursions and outdoor lounge oases will be visitable throughout the week. Curated by BI.CI. and L&L Luce&Light

It will always be possible to visit the exhibition of the Permanent Collection of the Compasso d’Oro Award.
