Concept
The event-exhibition “Milestone: 10 Years of Mercurio”, curated by Compasso d’Oro designers Giulio Iacchetti, Lorenzo Palmeri, and Matteo Ragni, in collaboration with the ADI Design Museum, Stone Italiana, UNI POSCA (distributed in Italy by Osama S.p.A.), OTTA Nice Things, under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and supported by Fondazione Cariplo, will serve as an opportunity to retrace the first 10 years of the association’s commitment. It will share the paths conceived and implemented to foster inclusion and the well-being of children and teenagers in contexts of social and economic fragility, as well as combat school dropout rates.
10 years of educational projects aimed at schools of all levels have shaped the mission of Associazione Mercurio in supporting new generations:
- Pinksie the Whale and Pinksie on WoW to promote inclusion and value diversity as a resource for growth.
- Da Grande Anch’Io and Da Grande Anch’Io 2.0 to spread scientific culture and inspire passion and skills for research and STEM fields.
- Make the Difference to develop and recognize personal talents, strengthen motivation, and guide the choice of future educational and professional paths.
- Sport for Good to promote well-being and inclusion through sports.
- The Colors of Emotions to develop emotional awareness and address fears and vulnerabilities through art.
- The Gym of Emotions to counteract the psycho-emotional distress of preadolescents through art therapies: drama, dance, sculpture, painting, music, and writing.
- Manufacto to discover the joy of craftsmanship and understand the values and secrets of artisanal trades.
- SiCura-Mente to help young people redefine their social and relational identities through creativity and physical expression.
A journey filled with initiatives and dedication, all aimed at one goal: helping young people believe in themselves and their futures. With MILESTONE, Associazione Mercurio renews its commitment to fostering a shared reflection on psycho-emotional well-being and combating school dropout rates—particularly in this period of social and educational crisis, which deeply impacts children and adolescents, undermining their well-being and faith in the future.
This is achieved through creative language, engaging the community and professionals from architecture, design, graphic arts, and visual arts within a reference museum institution in Milan, the ADI Design Museum.
The works of 40 Italian architects, designers, artists, and creatives, created on Stone Italiana’s Cosmolite® and customized with UNI POSCA markers (distributed in Italy by Osama S.p.A.), will give life to a unique exhibition. This display will celebrate the strength and beauty of creativity in supporting the younger generations—a collective, diverse, and multifaceted representation designed to share and express the power of creativity as a tool for personal expression.
MILESTONE is also a product design project, “MILESTONE 40×40,” developed in collaboration with the exhibition curators: designers Giulio Iacchetti, Lorenzo Palmeri, and Matteo Ragni. The artistic works on display can be transformed into functional furniture pieces—three 40×40 coffee tables designed exclusively for Associazione Mercurio by the curators and produced in collaboration with OTTA Nice Things.
The proceeds will be donated to support Associazione Mercurio’s free educational projects aimed at middle and high school students in Milan.
The event aims to connect the art world, institutions, and the nonprofit sector to generate virtuous cycles of cultural and social growth. The goal is to open a moment of reflection within the Milanese community, particularly its artistic and creative scene, affirming the value of art as a means to promote free self-expression and help overcome a period of significant social distress affecting younger generations.
