ADI Design Week 2026

From April 20 to 26, the ADI Design Museum will be buzzing with exhibitions, installations, and talks. Featured highlights include the 29th edition of the Compasso d’Oro, Italy’s prestigious design award that has been shaping the world for over 70 years, a solo exhibition by Japanese designer Haruka Misawa, an installation by Mario Botta, inspired by the work of Le Corbusier, and innovative projects from emerging designers worldwide.

Exhibitions:

XXIX Compasso d’Oro 2026
An exhibition of contemporary Italian design selected by the international jury of the historic Compasso d’Oro Award, which has been transforming the world for over 70 years, founded in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti.
The winners will be announced on May 22 during the official award ceremony.

Bit by Bit – Haruka Misawa
The first solo exhibition in Milan by the Japanese designer. Installations and experimental projects transform everyday materials and gestures into sensory experiences, inviting the public to observe the environment from a new perspective.

Heritage Reimagined, Soban. Korean Design – Seoul Life 2026
An exhibition of objects exploring traditional Korean craftsmanship techniques—woodworking, lacquerware, and mother-of-pearl inlay—in dialogue with advanced technologies and digital fabrication.

Oluce, 80 Years of Light in Milan
Eighty years of history celebrated through an immersive installation retracing the brand’s creative and cultural heritage, looking at the past as a living material still capable of generating new visions.

DBEW Design Award 2026
Award ceremony and round table for the international design prize promoting co-creation between students and teachers, redefining design as an expression of collective intelligence. The jury is chaired by Paola Antonelli and includes John Thackara, Stefano Giovannoni, Angela Rui, Kazuhiro Yamanaka, and others.

Icosaedro
A wooden architectural structure from Trentino that connects design, landscape, and community, designed by Mario Botta and inspired by Le Corbusier’s Cabanon, will be installed in the garden in front of the museum. Project by the Autonomous Province of Trento, coordinated by TrentinoSviluppo.

Good Design Cities
by Massimiliano Mandarini

The first event of the public program will focus on the themes of sport and inclusion. Speakers will include Francesca Sironi and Alberto Gottardo, authors and directors of the video installation Rivincite, as well as Giorgio Minisini and Arianna Sacripante, artistic swimmers and members of Progetto Filippide.

The second meeting of the public program will be dedicated to the work of Perimetro and its three photographers, who have documented several emerging sports realities, including Baskin and art du déplacement, offering an in-depth look at inclusive sporting practices and new forms of expression in urban space. Both the photographers and the athletes will be present at the event.

The third meeting of the public program will focus on themes related to the future of sport, with reflections spanning bioethics, the relationship between body and technology, and the increasingly central role of data usage.
